Arrival to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC)
I finally arrived at UWEC Monday night around 7PM. The park was closed by that point so I was met by some security staff who then instructed me where I should go for my accommodation. I was put in a Banda (pretty much a self contained hut) that was conveniently close to the administration offices, which included the veterinary hospital. It was also quite dark at this point so I would have to wait for a tour of the park until the morning. I contacted Dr. Abdulhameed (Hameed) Kateregga, UWEC's staff veterinarian to organize a meeting with him in the morning. He would be my primary advisor during my stay at UWEC. My first night in the Banda was mostly uneventful, other than the intermittent screaming and yowling of the the chimpanzee troupe's exhibit that was not too far from where I was staying. More will be explained about them later...
